To empower faith-leaders in their ministry by providing access to holistic financial formation.
Are you a faith leader ready to increase your financial fluency and build a better relationship with money? Get started on your financial formation journey through the Reverend Money Academy.
It's 2050 and we've helped over 100,000 faith leaders reclaim their financial power through our holistic approach to financial formation. These faith leaders, confident in their own relationship with money and their understanding of corporate and public finance are leaders in the movement to eradicate poverty and cultivate economic belonging for all.
We are committed to eradicating poverty in Winston-Salem, North Carolina - the place Reverend Money calls home. This commitment is realized through our Tithing Pledge where we commit 10% of our profits to the work of The Wild Imagination Fund. The Wild Imagination Fund provides unrestricted funding to local nonprofits to aid in their anti-poverty work.
From traditional pastors to entrepreneurial ministers, the role of Faith Leader is expansive. We use the term modern to clarify that we work with faith leaders in a vast array of vocational calls. In many ways, the 21st Century calls us out of our traditional spaces of worship to engage the world in new and innovative ways. So, whether you are a pastor of a big steeple historic church or a nonprofit leader leading advocacy efforts, Reverend Money is here to support you in your financial journey and help you flourish in your vocational call.
We envision a future where systemic poverty doesn't exist. This motto reminds us to have faith in that vision and that our mission will help make that vision a reality.
The world we imagine has never been done. As a result, we have to imagine something different. This motto reminds us to be creative in our work.
Entrepreneurship is hard. Ministry is hard. We won't always get it right on the first try, but we must continue to move forward toward our vision.
We embrace the lean startup model. As a social impact venture we are committed to keeping costs low and building a sustainable revenue model.
Justice-driven work can cause burnout and compassion fatigue. As we scale our firm, we are committed to the wellbeing of our team - from thriving wages to time for rest and restoration.
Our work is rooted in the pursuit of economic justice. As such we have to make sure we operate in a way that aids the work, not hinder it.
The idea behind Reverend Money was sparked through our Founder's participation in the ECFFM Initiative while serving as the Director of Ministry and Vocational Exploration at Wake Forest University School of Divinity. Concerned about the lack of formal financial education in theological education, Rayce became a Certified Financial Education Instructor and began offering financial education opportunities to Wake Forest students and alumni.
Following a desire to expand his reach, Rayce applied and was accepted into the Do Good X startup accelerator with the idea of developing a financial education app that was tailored to the unique vocational realities of faith leaders. Although accepted, COVID delayed Rayce's participation in the program by a year. Rayce spent much of 2020 clarifying his vision and landed on Reverend Money's original name Faithonomics.
Faithonomics was officially incorporated in the state of North Carolina in March of 2021. In addition to completing the Do Good X fellowship, Faithonomics was contracted to provide financial education to participants in Wake Forest University School of Divinity Thriving In Ministry program.
With any new venture, taking time to test your product is important. In 2022, Faithonomics tested the beta version of a financial education app called Faithonomics[+] and continued to gather feedback from faith leaders. Two years into COVID and the financial and vocational realities were rapidly changing. At the end of 2022, it became clear we needed to reimagine our design for the greatest impact.
We learned a lot in 2022. As a result, 2023 became our year to reimagine. We began the process of redesigning Faithonomics[+] into what would become The Reverend Money Collective and launched our original podcast - The Faithonomics Podcast - which rose to the top 50% of all podcasts within the first 6 months.
2024 was a year of accelerated clarity. Our Founder was named an innoFaither by innoFaith and became an Invested Faith fellow. He also joined the CREDO finance faculty team with the Board of Pensions of the Presbyterian Church U.S. A. As our work narrowed in scope - we rebranded to our new name Reverend Money to better reflect our work and mission.
A new podcast, new classes, and new curriculums, 2025 is a year where we aim to drive up our direct service offerings to faith leaders and their communities. Get started by exploring the Reverend Money Academy.
